Where to charge your electric vehicle in Cornwall

Exploring the rugged cliffs and hidden coves of Cornwall has never been more sustainable. As the county moves toward a greener future, the infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs) has expanded rapidly.

Whether you are driving down the Atlantic Highway or navigating the narrow lanes of West Cornwall, “range anxiety” is becoming a thing of the past. With strategic charging hubs now lining the A30 and an increasing number of destination chargers at your favourite attractions, keeping your battery topped up is as easy as finding a good pasty.

Rapid Charging on the A30 Corridor

For most visitors, the journey begins on the A30. This main artery is now well-served by high-power rapid chargers, perfect for a quick 20-minute top-up while you grab a coffee.

  • Cornwall Services (Victoria): Located centrally, this is a major hub featuring Gridserve ultra-rapid chargers. It’s the ideal “mid-county” stop-off. – View on Google Maps
  • Shell (Hayle Loggans Moor): As you head further west, this station at the Loggans Moor roundabout offers reliable rapid charging points right before you reach the turn-offs for St Ives and Carbis Bay. – View on Google Maps
  • InstaVolt (Bodmin Retail Park): A great inland option with multiple rapid chargers. These are particularly popular because they accept contactless payment, removing the need for specific apps. – View on Google Maps

Charging at Cornish Landmarks

One of the best ways to charge is while you explore. Many of Cornwall’s top attractions have integrated EV points into their car parks, allowing you to “destination charge” while you enjoy your day out.
