Fowey is a stunning harbour town, but its geography. steep hills and medieval narrow streets, means parking requires a bit of strategy. Unlike flatter towns, you can’t just drive into the centre and hope for a spot; the roads are restricted and often impassable for visitors.
The “Golden Rule” for Fowey is simple: Don’t drive into the town centre. The streets are famously narrow, and you will likely get stuck or have to reverse up a steep hill. Stick to the designated car parks on the outskirts or the waterside edges.

Because the town is spread out along the river, your choice depends on whether you want a shuttle bus ride or a waterside walk.
- Best for Day Trips (The Main Hub): Main Car Park. This is the stress-free option. Park at the top and take the shuttle bus down to the quay. You can walk down to the town as well but the walk is steep in places so bear that in mind.
- Best for Boating & Ferries: Caffa Mill Car Park. Ideal if you are using the Bodinnick Ferry or launching a boat, with a level (but narrow) walk into town.
- Best for Beach Days: Readymoney Car Park. Located on the far side of town, this is perfect for families heading straight to the beach or St Catherine’s Castle.
The Main Council Car Park
This is the primary car park for Fowey. It is managed by Cornwall Council and uses the ‘JustPark’ app. It is located at the top of the hill to keep traffic out of the centre.

Best For: Stress-free visiting, the Town Bus service, and avoiding narrow lanes. A shuttle bus runs regularly to and from the Town Quay.

Waterside & Beach Parking
These car parks offer closer access to the water but involve driving through tighter roads. They fill up quickly in summer.
Caffa Mill Car Park
Postcode: PL23 1DF
Capacity: Moderate (~100 spaces)
Best For: The Bodinnick Ferry, boat launching, and a flatter walk into town (approx 10-15 mins). It is located past the main turn-off for the town centre.

Best For: Readymoney Cove beach, St Catherine’s Castle, and coastal walks. It is a 10-15 minute walk along the Esplanade to the town centre shops.

Best For: Loading/Unloading only.
Description: There is virtually no on-street parking in Fowey due to the narrow width of the roads. Most streets are double yellow lines or restricted zones. Stick to the car parks to avoid fines or getting stuck.
