Parking in Mousehole is limited and the streets are unforgiving. If you are nervous about reversing in tight spaces, do not attempt to drive onto the quays. The “Parade” car park on the approach road is your safest bet, or better yet, park in Newlyn and catch the bus or walk the scenic coastal mile.

If you are visiting for the famous Christmas lights, the village closes to traffic entirely, so you must use the Park & Ride from Penzance.

Our Top Picks

Your choice depends on your confidence behind the wheel and the time of year.

  • Best for Day Trips (The Main Hub): The Parade Car Park. The largest car park on the edge of the village. It is an easy walk to the harbour and avoids the tightest narrow streets.
  • Best for Views (Small Cars Only): North Quay Car Park. Located on the breakwater wall. The views are incredible, but the access is extremely narrow and requires precision driving.
  • Best for Stress-Free Access: St Peter’s Hill (Newlyn). Park in Newlyn and walk the flat, mile-long coastal path into Mousehole. It takes 20 minutes and saves you from the traffic jams.

Harbour & Quay Parking

The Harbour Authority manages two car parks directly on the sea walls. These are stunning spots but come with specific restrictions.

North Quay Car Park

Postcode: TR19 6QE
Capacity: ~60 spaces
Best For: Confident drivers wanting a sea view. You park on the breakwater itself.
Warning: The entrance is very narrow. Large SUVs and vans often struggle to turn here. It is open all year round.

South Quay Car Park

Postcode: TR19 6PL
Capacity: Limited
Best For: Summer access to the sandy harbour beach.
Important: This car park is closed in winter (usually November to Easter) as it is used for boat storage to protect vessels from storms. In summer, it fills up quickly.

Village Edge & Alternatives

To avoid the harbour congestion, stop at the first car park you see or park further afield.

The Parade Car Park

Postcode: TR19 6PR
Capacity: ~80 spaces
Best For: The safest option in the village. It is located on the cliff road as you drive in from Newlyn. It is privately run and strictly enforced—you usually need the ‘JustPark’ app, and mobile signal can be patchy, so try to download it beforehand.

Duke Street & St Peter’s Hill (Newlyn)

Postcode: TR18 5HW (Duke St) / TR18 5EQ (St Peter’s)
Capacity: Large
Best For: Walking into Mousehole. Duke Street is right in the centre of Newlyn near the cinema; St Peter’s Hill is a steep climb but offers long-stay spaces. The walk to Mousehole is beautiful and entirely flat along the coast road.
