Yes, two small, sheltered sandy stretches emerge inside the harbour walls at low tide. They’re not large, but they’re calm and pleasant, and a lovely spot for a quiet paddle rather than a full beach day.
Is the harbour water safe for swimming?
Yes, it’s very calm and clear, which makes it highly popular with young families. The sheltered harbour setting takes most of the swell out of the water compared with the open coast.
Where is the Mousehole Rock Pool?
A stone-enclosed natural tidal pool, a short walk north along the rocks from the harbour. It’s a nice, low-key spot for kids to explore without needing to venture onto the open beach.

Can you spot seals in Mousehole?
Yes, grey seals frequently swim near the harbour entrance and around St Clement’s Isle just offshore. Keep an eye on the water from the harbour wall, particularly in quieter, early morning hours.

Are dogs allowed on Mousehole Harbour Beach?
There’s a seasonal restriction limiting dogs during peak summer hours, so check current local signage if you’re travelling with a dog, especially if visiting in high season.

A wildlife sanctuary founded in 1928 that treats injured seabirds, one of the longest-running facilities of its kind in the country and a genuine point of local pride.

Yes, visitors can see recovered resident birds and learn about the local conservation work involved in rescuing and rehabilitating seabirds along this stretch of coast.

How far is the walk from Mousehole to Lamorna Cove?
About 2.5 miles along a rugged stretch of the South West Coast Path, taking in some genuinely dramatic coastal scenery along the way.
Is the walk to Lamorna Cove difficult?
It features steep inclines and rocky terrain, generally categorised as moderate to strenuous, so decent footwear and a reasonable level of fitness are both worth having before you set off.
Can you rent paddleboards or kayaks in Mousehole?
Local operators run seasonal rentals and guided coastal trips, a good way to see the harbour and coastline from a completely different angle.
