Torpoint is dominated by the Torpoint Ferry, which connects Cornwall to Plymouth. Because of this, the main road through the town is effectively a queuing system. If you are stopping in the town, you want to get off the main ferry road as quickly as possible.
Most visitors park at Tamar Street, which is the large car park right next to the ferry slipway, or further up at Thanckes Park for a greener setting.
Our Top Picks
Save yourself the stress of ferry queues by heading straight to these locations.
- Best for Ferry & Town (The Main Hub): Tamar Street Car Park. The primary car park in town. It is located right next to the ferry slipway and the main shops. Ideal if you are walking across to Plymouth.
- Best for Parks & Picnics: Thanckes Park Car Park. Located at the top of the town (towards HMS Raleigh). It serves the park, tennis courts, and offers great views of the river.
- Best for Short Shops: Antony Road Car Park. A smaller, convenient car park tucked behind the main shopping street.
