Parking in Polzeath is dominated by one major factor: The Tide.

Polzeath is famous for its vast beach car park, which offers the ultimate convenience of parking right on the sand. However, this comes with a serious warning: the sea creates a “parking deadline” twice a day. If you don’t move your car, it will get wet.

Our Top Picks

Depending on the tide and your vehicle type, these are your best options.

  • Best for Beach Access (Low Tide): Polzeath Beach Car Park. Park directly on the sand. It is unbeatable for families and surfers, but you must check the tide times.
  • Best for Views & High Tide: Tristram Car Park. Perched high on the cliff overlooking the bay. It is safe from the tide and offers the best view of the surf.
  • Best for New Polzeath side: New Polzeath Long Stay. Located on the opposite headland. It is quieter and great for coastal walks towards Pentire Point.

Beach & Valley Parking (Polzeath)

These are the main car parks located in the valley, close to the shops, surf schools, and the water.

Polzeath Beach Car Park (Council)

Postcode: PL27 6TB
Capacity: ~200+ (Depends on tide)
Best For: Surfers and families carrying heavy gear. You drive onto the sand at the top of the beach.
Important: Parts of this car park are tidal. There are “safe” zones at the very back, but in summer these fill instantly. If you park on the sand, watch the tide clock religiously.

Tristram Car Park (Private)

Postcode: PL27 6TD
Capacity: Large Field
Best For: Peace of mind and panoramic views. It is located on the cliff on the left-hand side (as you look at the sea). It is slightly more expensive, but you don’t need to worry about the tide.

New Polzeath (Cliff Top)

New Polzeath is the village on the right-hand headland. It is a steep walk down to the beach, but often less chaotic than the main valley.

New Polzeath Long Stay

Postcode: PL27 6UG
Capacity: ~120 spaces
Best For: Walking to Pentire Point and “The Rumps”. It is a fantastic spot if you want to escape the main beach crowds.

Nearby Alternatives

If Polzeath is fully gridlocked (common in August), head to the next bay along.

Daymer Bay Car Park

Postcode: PL27 6SA
Capacity: ~150 spaces
Best For: A calmer experience. Daymer Bay is only a mile away (connected by the coastal path). The water here is flatter and excellent for swimming, and the car park is large and grassy.
