Our Top Picks
These three properties offer the best blend of comfort, location, and character.
1. The Claremont Hotel (Best for Adults)
Located on the approach to the village, this is an adult-only hotel that offers a calm sanctuary.
- The Vibe: Sophisticated and peaceful. It is known for its high standards of service and quiet atmosphere.
- The Stay: It has the rarest of all commodities in Polperro: private parking. This makes it by far the most convenient option if you are driving.
2. Talland Bay Hotel (Best for Luxury)
While technically just over the hill in Talland Bay (a 5-minute drive or a stunning coastal walk away), this is the premier luxury hotel in the area.
- The Vibe: Quirky, artistic, and very dog-friendly. The gardens are filled with sculptures, and the views out to sea are breathtaking.
- The Stay: If you want fine dining, a gin bar, and a concierge service rather than a self-catering cottage, this is the place to be.
3. Penryn House (Best Boutique B&B)
Situated on The Coombes (the main road leading down to the harbour), this B&B is stylish, modern, and welcoming.
- The Vibe: A modern twist on the traditional Cornish guest house. It is beautifully decorated and feels very fresh.
- The Stay: It is perfectly located for exploring the village. You are a short walk from the harbour but far enough back to avoid the noise of the seagulls in the morning.
Pubs with Rooms
- The Blue Peter Inn: Staying here puts you in the thick of it. Located right on the harbour, the rooms are cosy (and some have shared bathrooms), but the atmosphere is unbeatable. You can fall into bed after a night of live music downstairs.
- The Three Pilchards: The oldest pub in the village offers rooms with incredible character. Expect creaky floors, sloping ceilings, and plenty of history.
Self-Catering Cottages
- The “Carry” Factor: Polperro is packed with stunning holiday cottages managed by local agencies like *Polperro Heritage Coast*. However, remember that most cottages do not have parking. You will likely have to park at the top of the village and transport your luggage via the “luggage taxi” service or wheel it down the hill yourself.
- River Views: Look for cottages that back onto the River Pol. Listening to the stream running past your window is one of the most relaxing sounds in the world.
Parking & Logistics
- The Ban: Visitors cannot drive into the village centre. This is strictly enforced.
- The Solution: Unless your hotel has specific parking (like The Claremont), you will park at the main Crumplehorn car park. There is a luggage taxi service available, which we highly recommend using if you have heavy bags. It saves dragging a suitcase over cobbled streets!
