Staying in Looe puts you right in the heart of a working fishing port. It is vibrant and unpretentious. The choice is usually between the convenience of East Looe (shops and sand) or the panoramic views of West Looe (quieter and steeper). Whichever side you choose, you are never far from the sound of seagulls and the sea.

From luxury hotels with sub-tropical gardens to holiday parks that sit right on the coastal path, here is our curated guide to sleeping in Looe.

Our Top Picks

These three properties offer the most memorable stays in and around the town.

1. Talland Bay Hotel (Best for Luxury)

Located just along the coast path (a 5-minute drive or a scenic walk from Looe), this hotel is arguably the most stylish in the area. It overlooks the stunning Talland Bay.

  • The Vibe: Eccentric luxury. The decor is quirky (think Alice in Wonderland meets coastal chic) and the gardens are sub-tropical.
  • The Stay: It is incredibly dog-friendly (they even have a dog menu). The food is award-winning, making it a perfect retreat if you want to be near Looe but away from the crowds.

2. Hannafore Point Hotel (Best for Sea Views)

Situated on the headland in West Looe, this hotel commands the best view in town, looking out over Looe Island and the open sea.

  • The Vibe: Classic seaside hotel. It has a spacious, traditional feel with a spa and leisure club attached.
  • The Stay: Ask for a sea-view room. Waking up to the sunrise over Looe Island is spectacular. It is a bit of a walk into the town centre, but the location on the South West Coast Path makes up for it.

3. The Old Bridge House (Best for Harbour Location)

As the name suggests, this guest house sits right at the foot of the bridge in West Looe, looking directly across the river to the East side.

  • The Vibe: Intimate and welcoming. It is consistently rated as one of the best B&Bs in Cornwall.
  • The Stay: The location is strategic gold—you are on the quieter side of the river but only a 2-minute walk across the bridge to the restaurants and shops.

Family & Holiday Parks

Looe is a family favourite, and the surrounding hills are dotted with high-quality holiday parks.

  • Tencreek Holiday Park: The closest park to Looe. It is lively, has great facilities (indoor pool, entertainment), and offers easy access to the coast path walking into town.
  • Tregoad Holiday Park: Located just inland, this park has recently been upgraded to a luxury standard. It offers high-end lodges and a more relaxed atmosphere than the traditional parks.

Self-Catering Cottages

  • East Looe Cottages: If you book a cottage in the “Warren” or the maze of streets in East Looe, be aware that they are incredibly atmospheric but often have no parking and steep stairs.
  • Cornish Collection: A local agency that manages many of the river-front apartments in West Looe, which offer the independence of self-catering with the views of a hotel.

Parking & Logistics

  • The Bridge Bottleneck: The bridge connects the two towns and can get busy. If you stay in West Looe, you can often avoid the worst of the traffic.
  • East Looe Access: If you stay in the centre of East Looe, you will likely need to park in the main Millpool Car Park (in West Looe) and walk your luggage over the bridge or take a taxi. Most cottages in the old town do not have parking spaces.
