Sennen
Sennen is a rugged and beautiful coastal village situated at the very western tip of Cornwall, just a mile from the iconic landmark of Land’s End.
The village is split between the “churchtown” on the clifftop and Sennen Cove, a picturesque fishing harbour that sits at the southern end of a vast, mile-long stretch of golden sand. Historically, Sennen was a hardy outpost for fishing and farming, famously serving as a notorious haunt for smugglers who used the deep Atlantic swells and hidden caves to land contraband.
The village is home to the legendary First and Last Inn, a 17th-century hostelry that earned its name as the final stop for travellers before they reached the edge of the known world. Today, Sennen is a premier destination for world-class surfing and rock climbing, with its turquoise waters and granite cliffs offering some of the most dramatic scenery in the British Isles.
Despite its popularity, the cove retains the charm of a working community, with its small fleet of traditional fishing boats still hauled up the slipway when the Atlantic storms roll in.
