Zennor is a tiny hamlet with a huge reputation for food. Located on the wild Atlantic highway between St Ives and St Just, it has become a destination for serious foodies. The landscape here is ancient and rugged, and the food reflects that—expect locally foraged ingredients, fresh fish from the cove, and rich Cornish dairy produced right in the village.

Whether you are hiking the South West Coast Path or driving the scenic B3306, here is our curated guide to eating out in Zennor.

Our Top Picks

These two establishments are the heart of the area and offer two very different, but equally brilliant, dining experiences.

1. The Tinners Arms

Located next to the church in the very centre of the village, The Tinners Arms has been serving travellers since 1271. It was originally built to house the masons who built the church.

  • The Vibe: A proper, time-capsule pub. Think low beams, huge granite fireplaces, and no mobile signal. It is the perfect place to hide away with a pint of local ale (often Mermaid or Tinners) after a cliff walk.
  • The Food: This is honest, hearty pub grub at its best. They serve generous portions of classics like ploughman’s lunches, crab sandwiches, and steak and ale pies. In summer, the beer garden is a sun-trap with views over the moors.

2. The Gurnard’s Head

Located just a short drive west along the coast road, The Gurnard’s Head is worth the extra miles. It is widely considered one of the best dining pubs in the UK.

  • The Vibe: Relaxed, earthy, and sophisticated. It feels like a sanctuary from the wind, with slate floors, crackling log fires, and piles of books. It is dog-friendly and totally unpretentious despite the high quality of the cooking.
  • The Food: The menu changes daily based on what the boats bring in and what is growing in the fields. Expect dishes like day-boat fish with sea vegetables, foraged salads, and rich, slow-cooked meats. The Sunday lunch here is legendary.

Sweet Treats

Moomaid of Zennor

You will see “Moomaid” ice cream all over Cornwall, but this is where it comes from. The Moomaid of Zennor ice cream is made at Tremedda Farm, right here in the village.

  • The Experience: Visit their “Moomaid in the Village” parlour (located in the small craft centre) for a scoop of their famous “Shipwreck” flavour (sea salt, caramel, and honeycomb). They also serve excellent coffee and homemade cakes.

Parking Tips

  • Village Parking: There is a small honesty-box car park in the village centre (TR26 3BY) for The Tinners Arms and the church. It is small, so arrive early.
  • The Gurnard’s Head: Has its own large car park for customers, making it a stress-free stop on the coast road.
