Bude offers a different vibe to the rest of Cornwall. It is less cramped than St Ives and more relaxed than Newquay, making it a favourite for families and surfers. The accommodation scene here ranges from grand Victorian hotels overlooking the canal to ultra-modern eco-resorts hidden in the countryside.

Whether you want to wake up to the sound of crashing waves or stay in a luxury lodge with a hot tub, here is our curated guide to sleeping in Bude.

The “Best in Cornwall” Top Picks

These three properties consistently rate as the best experiences in town, offering a mix of luxury, history, and style.

1. The Beach at Bude (Best for Luxury)

This boutique hotel brings a touch of ‘Hamptons’ style to the Cornish coast. It overlooks Summerleaze Beach and feels fresh, modern, and exclusive.

  • The Vibe: Chic, bright, and airy. It is generally geared more towards couples and adults.
  • The Room to Book: A ‘Superior Sea View’ room. The terrace bar downstairs is the best spot in town for a sunset cocktail.
  • Good to Know: It’s a very short walk to the sea pool for a morning swim.

2. The Falcon Hotel (Best for History)

The oldest hotel in Bude, The Falcon is an institution. Overlooking the Bude Canal, it is the social anchor of the town.

  • The Vibe: Traditional, grand, and welcoming. It has beautiful walled gardens and a real sense of old-world hospitality.
  • The Room to Book: Ask for a room overlooking the canal to watch the boats go by.
  • Good to Know: The food here is excellent (see our Food Guide), and it makes a perfect base for exploring the town on foot.

3. Wooda Farm Holiday Park (Best for Families & Camping)

Bude is famous for camping, and Wooda is the gold standard. Located just outside the town, this 5-star park offers everything from luxury lodges to grass pitches.

  • The Vibe: Immaculately kept and packed with facilities (tennis, archery, farm animals) without feeling commercial or noisy.
  • The Stay: If you aren’t a camper, their eco-lodges and holiday homes are spectacular.
  • Good to Know: The views down the coast from here are panoramic.

Widemouth Bay (Near the Surf)

If you prefer to be out of the town and closer to the wilder surf beaches, look just 3 miles south to Widemouth Bay.

  • Elements Hotel: Perched high on the cliff, this Italian-influenced hotel offers incredible sea views. It’s modern, stylish, and perfect if you want to check the surf from your window.
  • Beach House: A smaller, more intimate boutique B&B right near the water. It has a cool, laid-back surf vibe.

Unique Stays

  • Bude Coastal Resort: If you want self-catering with zero compromise on luxury, this is the place. Their modern lodges often come with hot tubs and access to a high-end spa and glass-fronted gym.
  • Hebasca: A funky, contemporary hotel in the centre of town. It steps away from the traditional seaside decor and offers something a bit edgier and more design-led.

Parking & Logistics

  • The “Summer” Warning: Bude is incredibly popular in August. While the town has plenty of parking, booking your accommodation 6 months in advance is standard practice for the best spots (especially The Beach and Wooda).
  • Location Check: Bude is hilly! If you book a place in the upper town or near the golf course, remember it will be a walk back up from the beach.
