Drive From St Ives To Lands end
The B3306 connects St Ives to Land’s End, following the rugged northern coast of the Penwith peninsula. Frequently referenced as one of the UK’s most engaging driving roads, this thirteen-mile route is known for its technical nature, featuring tight bends, narrow sections, and undulating terrain.
The drive traverses a landscape of granite moorland and historic farmland, offering consistent, expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean while passing through key areas of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.
Landmarks
Key stops and landmarks along the route include:
- Zennor: A historic village famous for the medieval carving of the Mermaid of Zennor in its church.
- The Gurnard’s Head: A distinctive headland and the site of a well-regarded dining pub.
- Pendeen Watch: A working lighthouse located on a dramatic cliff edge.
- Geevor Tin Mine: A substantial museum offering underground tours and insight into the region’s industrial past.
- Botallack: Home to the iconic Crowns engine houses, which cling to the cliffs just above the sea.
- St Just: The most westerly town in mainland Britain, located a short distance from the National Trust site at Cape Cornwall.
Drivers should be aware that the road can be challenging, particularly for larger vehicles, due to oncoming traffic and frequent pinch points.
