Positive Attitude

This entire website has been programmed by me, Stefan of Wadebridge, Cornwall. It has been made available because when I left hospital in 2003 after suffering several brain stem strokes and being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I found myself confined to a wheelchair. I then discovered that almost no-one knew where I could get help or advice, or what I was entitled to, I actually felt alone and unwanted.

A very dear friend named Lyn helped me, by providing not only food, but also finding out the help to which I was entitled. In fact she was a god-send, because without her never-ending help, I surely wouldn't have survived and lived much longer.

Therefore since that time, I've been able to find a great amount of advice, help and resources to share with others through this website.

Therefore if this website helps just one person, then my continual efforts to expand and add further resources into this website have been justified.

The following are a few of the positive things which may help us from day to day. I continually keep myself busy in raising funds for those that are less fortunate:

From a wheelchair users point of view:
Where there are negatives, there HAVE to be Positives - FACT:
Who falls over on the ice and snow - We don't !
Long queues ! - No problem !
Legs tired? - Ours never tire !
Heavy shopping - No problem !
Who often gets taken to the front of a queue? - We Do !
Who has the best, most comfortable seat in the house? - We Do !
New shoes ? - Ours are everlasting !
Who has a reserved parking space near the front door? - We Do !
Who can usually park (subject to conditions) on double yellow lines, for up to 3 hours? - We can !

The benefits go on and on ..., therefore to all wheelchair users, be positive and help those folk that suffer, where we don't !

Having stated the above, I and other disabled folk would much prefer to be able to stand, climb stairs, walk, run and so on, like abled bodied folk and not sink in the sand on the beach!

I have now devoted my life to helping others less fortunate than myself through charitable organisations like The Rotary Club of Wadebridge, and although I am not a member, I do try to provide help in some small way by helping them and other charities to raise funds for the less fortunate.

If you ever see me, I hope you will notice that I usually have a smile on my face and a positive attitude, so please say hello to me!

Stefan
